Christmas Celebrations 2022

Dec 20, 2022
CHRISTMAS CLEBRATIONS, IN THE FIELD

When Restoring Hope was full of close to 100 cute, little kids, ages 5 – 12, starting 10 years ago, many early supporters were asked to help fund projects like painting the churches providing care to these children, or asked to provide some school uniforms and Christmas gifts.

The tradition of new clothes given to the children at Christmas begin in those early years. New clothes for young orphaned and  vulnerable children is so important for their sense of dignity and personal worth.

Back then we had dreams of sending these children to college one day… Fast forward 12 years and now 700 Restoring Hope children are living with biological family caregivers and over half of them are on the brink of that very dream – attending college and being the likely last person in their family to ever experience poverty.

After reintegrating children who once lived at the church, and are now back with their biological relatives, the biggest time of year to reconnect is over Christmas when their home churches celebrate together.

A Christmas celebration among multiple churches can become a “cluster” that Restoring Hope pastors and staff created for those benefiting from our programs. Through the cluster, the 2-3 churches can rotate the hosting church venue and provide a large point for gathering the village churches together. In this way, the children and families can find reunions with friends, church members, eat great food, sing/dance, pray and have a lot of exposure to the way the village church celebrates Christmas and invites new participants into their congregation.

Cute little kids….. eventually grow up.

But they still need loving support and hope and dreams and faith in Jesus. And that’s what we are about at Restoring Hope.

The holiday season is upon us and in South Asia these 700 children and families in Restoring Hope’s network of care look forward to the annual church Christmas celebration as much or more than we do in the Western world. Already 4 of the 7 have taken place and we are receiving photos and reports of their recent gatherings.

They had the opportunity to hear about the angels and shepherds, they will hear about Mary’s faithful response and they will hear about the birth of the Savior and, finally, peace on Earth.

And we’re so glad this message is being told far and wide in the regions where Restoring Hope is caring for children and families.

Thank you for being part of these gathering through the support in prayer and giving that you may have provided this year. Through the programs this week, hundreds of orphaned and vulnerable families across South Asia have heard the Message being shared.

As this year comes to a close, we are asking our faithful Restoring Hope partners to continue to believe in the futures of these children as they become students and then adults with hope restored.

Will you See Them Through this holiday season and year-end?

Give here to support our Restoring Hope students as we conclude one year and look to begin another, and know that your you are making a big impact on an orphan or vulnerable child’s future!
